*grin* didn't written language start like that? Take letters or inscriptions written in latin. They're more shorthand than anything else- because writing space was limited, and writing material was expensive. Pretty much the same as with 'text speak', emoticons, and whatnot tooday.
So no, i don'T see the eveningland undergo, it's just how language evolves. CU 'n ;-)
